Who Attends These Sessions? 

  • 1:1 between Client & Counselor 

  • Family Sessions may include: Client, Family Member(s) & Counselor

  • Groups: Participants & Counselor

Intake / Initial Assessment (1st Session)  

  • Discuss Reasons for Seeking Counseling Services 

  • Review SHCW Services 

  • Agree Upon Attendance & Billing Policy and Procedures  

  • Sign Documentation including: Informed Consent, HIPPA & other forms  

  • Start Initial Assessment: where therapist gathers background information to ensure counselor and client are a good fit for one another  

  • Begin Building Rapport

Finish the Intake Process (2nd Session) 

  • Finish Initial Assessment (if more time is needed)

  • Complete Treatment Plan: Establishing Goals & Expectations

  • Continue Building Rapport  

Counseling Process (3rd Session & Beyond) 

  • Continue Therapeutic Relationship 

  • Implementing Counseling Modalities & Interventions 

  • Reviewing Treatment Goals & Progress
